Members of the Nevis Yacht Club Youth Sailing Programme on Sunday, January 15, 2012 participated in a series of five races to determine who would represent Nevis at the upcoming Anguilla Dinghy Regatta on Saturday, January 28, 2012. The top two finishers in last Sunday’s races Tom Knapton and Corey Baker will represent Nevis in Anguilla. represent Nevis at the Anguilla Dinghy Regatta on Saturday, January 28, 2011.

In a brief update on the Nevis Youth Sailing Programme activities, Christine A. Erdmann Programme Co-ordinator disclosed that on Sunday, January 15, 2012, the racing conditions were perfect, flat water and good breeze. The racing she concluded was close and competitive. "The kids demonstrated their mastery of the basic racing rules and tactics." At the end, Tom Knapton placed first overall having finished first in three races and second in one race. Corey Baker and Calveno Pierre scored the same number of points and were tied for second place. Despite difficulties with a broken rudder, Corey managed to sail well and ended up tied for second place overall with Calveno Pierre.

Calveno Pierre gallantly ceded the second place spot to Corey Baker. Calveno Pierre represented Nevis in the SOL St. Maarten Optimist Regatta back in November, 2011.
